Zimbabwe’s ZiG currency was quoted at 26.6531 to the US dollar on Friday, according to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s interbank rate, as official data showed consumer prices rose 0.25% in August.
The central bank’s daily table put the ZiG’s dollar bid rate at 25.9868 and ask rate at 27.3194. The mid-rate was 26.6531, compared with 26.5591 in the previous Zimbabwe market update published by Maaga Africa.
The rate was also set at 16.1814 ZiG per South African rand and 575.2300 ZiG per Central African CFA franc, the RBZ table showed. Gold was quoted at 115,629.4135 ZiG per ounce.
The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency’s website lists August inflation at 0.25%. It also reports year-on-year GDP growth of 7.04% for the fourth quarter of 2025, while the central bank said in its August monetary-policy statement that inflation had averaged 4.2% from January to July.
The combination of a broadly stable official exchange rate and low monthly inflation gives policymakers room to focus on liquidity and confidence in the ZiG market. The figures do not, by themselves, show whether businesses and households are using the official rate for all transactions.
